Who Needs a Central FSSAI Manufacturing License?

The following businesses require a Central License:

Documents Required for Central Manufacturing License

  • Passport-size photo of Proprietor/Directors/Partners

  • Identity proof (Aadhaar, PAN, Voter ID, Passport, etc.)

  • Address proof of business premises (Rent Agreement/Utility Bill/Ownership proof)

  • Incorporation Certificate / MOA & AOA / Partnership Deed

  • Food Safety Management System (FSMS) Plan

  • Layout/blueprint of manufacturing unit

  • List of equipment & machinery with installed capacity

  • Water testing report (for manufacturing units dealing in beverages/processed food)

  • No Objection Certificate (NOC) from local authority

  • Proof of annual turnover (CA certificate)

  • List of food products to be manufactured

  • Import Export Code (IEC), if applicable (for exporters/importers)

  • Form IX: Nomination of persons by a company along with Board Resolution

  • Details of technical personnel in charge of operations

Process to Obtain Central FSSAI Manufacturing License

  1. Check Eligibility – Ensure your business falls under Central License criteria.

  2. Document Preparation – Collect and prepare all necessary documents.

  3. Application Filing – Apply online via the FoSCoS portal.

  4. Inspection (if required) – FSSAI officers may inspect the premises and manufacturing process.

  5. Approval & License Issuance – Once approved, you will receive a 14-digit Central FSSAI License number.

Validity & Renewal

  • Validity: 1 to 5 years (as chosen at the time of application).

  • Renewal: Apply at least 30 days before expiry to avoid penalties.
