Who Needs to File FSSAI Annual Return?

The following categories of FBOs must file FSSAI Annual Returns:

  • 🧃 Exporters of food products

  • 🍫 Food businesses involved in multiple food categories

👉 Retailers, restaurants, catering businesses, and small-scale food vendors are exempt from annual return filing.

Types of FSSAI Annual Returns

  1. Form D-1 – For Manufacturers, Importers, Exporters, Re-packers, Re-labelers (filed every year).

  2. Form D-2 – For Manufacturers of Milk & Milk Products (Half-Yearly Return – April to September & October to March).

Due Dates for Filing

  • Form D-1: On or before 31st May of every financial year (for the preceding year).

  • Form D-2: Within 1 month of completion of the half-year period.

Penalty for Non-Filing

  • ₹100 per day is charged for delay in filing.

  • Continuous non-filing may result in suspension or cancellation of FSSAI license.
